THE KINKY COIL
The tightest of all curl types, kinky curls are made of zig-zag-shaped strands. The twists and turns of this curl type makes dehydration a constant risk - so they need all the moisture they can get. The key to keeping your hair strong is making sure that moisture is sealed into each strand. Load up on heavier butters and nourishing oils, and remember to keep that moisture sealed into each strand by using film forming humectants. Keeping your hair in protective styles such as twists, braids or bantu knots will also help your hair retain moisture for longer.
HIGH POROSITY
Your hair cuticles are open and rough, meaning they absorb water easily but struggle to retain it. You need lots of dense, creamy products to moisture and nourish your hair, followed up with a sealant to keep the moisture locked in. Adding proteins will also help your hair hold onto moisture for longer.
HIGH DENSITY
Also known as thick hair, high density means that your strands are tightly packed together and your scalp is not visible unless you pull sections of your hair apart. Use heavier creams, butters, or gels to hold your hair together, making sure you apply enough product to coat all strands evenly.
COARSE
These strands are the strongest hair texture, making them more resistant to damage and easier to maintain length. But coarse hair tends to be more prone to dryness, tangles and frizz. Make sure you’re using plenty of nourishing and moisture-boosting products with rich and creamy textures.
YOUR PERSONAL HOLY CURLS ROUTINE
STEP 1 - WASH
Water is your best friend. so make sure that your hair is thoroughly wet before applying the shampoo.
1. Apply shampoo to the roots and massage your scalp properly.
2. Rinse hair and repeat steps 1 and 2 if needed.
STEP 2 - DEEP CONDITION
The 05 Curl Mask contains a bond-building technology called FiberHance™. This ingredients is great for high porosity hair as it helps to fill in gaps in the hair shaft, providing deep repair. It also adds a serious dose of hydration to thirsty hair.
1. Apply from roots to ends.
2. Finger detangle if you can or use a wide tooth comb or brush. As you detangle, drizzle water over your hair and keep stroking to smooth the cuticle.
3. Pop on a shower cap to generate heat for a deeper conditioning treatment. You can also use a hooded dryer or a steam. Leave on for 15 minutes while you do your thing.
4. If your hair is extra dry, leave some of the mask in the hair to act as a leave in. Water the mask down by drizzling water over the hair. Keep drizzling water until about 10% of the product is left in your hair.
STEP 3 - OIL SERUM
Packed with Jojoba Oil, Hemisqualane, Rosemary Seed Oil, Baobab Oil, Marula Oil, and a blend of Essential Oils, the Oil Serum not only primes your hair for ultimate moisture retention, but also nourishes it with vitamins and nutrients.
1. Apply while your hair is dripping wet from roots to end.
STEP 4 - THE FRO CREAM
The Fro Cream contain Wavemax ® and Xylishine™ two high performing and innovative actives that provide ultimate, long-lasting moisture and shine for Afro textured hair.
1. Gently blot excess water with an old cotton T-shirt. Your hair should be dripping wet but not soaking.
2. Section Your Hair: Divide your hair into manageable sections and apply The Fro Cream from roots to tips, ensuring complete coverage. Raking through your curls with your fingers will help to detangle and smooth the cuticle.
For Twists Outs/Braids Outs:
Split the section into smaller subsections and twist/braid each subsection. Repeat for all of your hair.
Let your twisted hair dry overnight (or have them in for longer to keep your hair protected.)
Once your twists/braids are completely dry, carefully unravel them to reveal perfectly defined coily curls.
Maintain and Refresh:
If you notice some sections have lost definition or are getting dry, spray with water to reactivate The Fro Cream and re-twist/braid those specific areas to refresh the style. Protect your hair with a satin or silk scarf or bonnet each night to preserve your hair.
For Wash and Go:
After applying The Fro Cream to each section, gently scrunch your hair with your hands. This helps encourage your natural curl pattern.
Allow Your Hair to Air Dry or use a diffuser on low heat. Once your hair is completely dry, gently tip your head forward and fluff your roots to add volume and separate your curls for a more natural look.
Maintain and Refresh:
Use a satin or silk scarf or bonnet to protect your hair while you sleep. This helps prevent moisture loss and maintains your curl definition. If your hair starts to feel dry, spray with water and re-apply a small amount of The Fro Cream to redefine your curls. Work it through your hair by raking, scrunching and encouraging your natural curl pattern.
